New
engine technology and low sulfur fuel fuel have improved
the performance of diesel engines and cut their
emissions. With these positive improvements you might
think that new diesel engines don't require service.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Even
the latest electronically controlled diesel engines
running on low sulfur fuel begin to loose their
efficiency and throttle response after 10- 20,000 miles.
The problem is the build-up of combustion related
contaminants.
When
diesel fuel--a fossil based fuel--is combusted, carbon
and other contaminants are produced. These contaminants
can clog the fuel intake system including the injectors
and valves. Carbon deposits also interfere with fuel
atomization which leads to incomplete fuel combustion.
When
a diesel engine is shut down, the temperature of fuel in
the engine increases to near boiling. This causes
heavier contaminants to separate from the base fuel.
These contaminants stick to the fuel passages and
restrict fuel flow. Engine contaminants are one of the
principal causes of fuel system component wear and
failure.
Fuel
system cleaning is a cost-effective way to restore
engine efficiency without removing or replacing costly
fuel injectors and fuel pumps.
HOW
IT WORKS - The engine is connected to the DIESEL FUEL
TOOL with fuel system specific adapters. While the
engine is idling, a mixture cleaning solution and diesel
fuel is circulated through the fuel system. This
includes the fuel pump, injectors, fuel rails, valves,
rings and combustion chamber surfaces.
The
cleaning solution loosens carbon and other contaminants
that are removed by the units 5-micron filter or
expelled through the exhaust.
