New Diesel Emissions Standards

Beginning in 2007, heavy-duty diesel engine manufacturers are faced with stiff new emissions limits on Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) and diesel Particulate Matter (PM).

Most diesel engine manufacturers are using Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to reduce NOX and PM. While EGR reduces emissions, it also adds stress to the engine's lubrication system.

Currently, diesel soot is emitted into the atmosphere via the exhaust system. Under the new regulations, the engine's oil system becomes a "trash can" for soot.

New lubricant standards have been developed to hold the soot in suspension and keep particulates from sticking to engine's wetted surfaces. However, once soot-loading limits are exceeded, residual deposits cannot be removed by simply changing the oil. To guard against component damage, the lubrication system will need to be flushed at regular intervals.

Engine Clean D-1600

Using the D-1600 at regular service intervals will remove the sludge that reduces oil flow and increases engine friction and heat.

The D-1600 dynamic oil flushing system requires only a simple two way connection through the engine oil filter port. Engine specific adapters replace the oil filter during the flushing procedure.

With the engine running at idle, the D-1600 dispenses a controlled quantity of EFX 601 oil system cleaning solution into the engine based on oil flow. As the solution circulates through the engine the cleaning solution dissolves sludge and other contaminants.

The D-1600 includes a digital flow meter that is used to measure oil pump flow and pressure. A counter is also provided to keep track of the number of services performed.

Dissolved contaminants are captured by a 5-micron filter that is replaced after each service. The engine oil is drained at the completion of the cleaning cycle.

After the oil is drained, our patented air flush feature is used to remove contaminants which would normally remain in the oil pan and on other wetted surfaces by performing a simple oil change or static flush.

Using the D-1600 dynamic oil flush machine at regular service intervals is the most effective way to insure against costly engine overhauls.
